Baseball Splits Series with Mineral Area College

SCC baseball hosted Mineral Area College over the weekend for a four-game region matchup series. The teams played two games on Friday and two on Saturday.  

 

Game one – Loss 15-7  

The Cougars collected 10 hits in the game. Ethan Chiodini and Jonathon Frey each collected two hits for the Cougars. Jaiden Glency and Brady Kilker each drove in two runs. Jaiden Glency also hit a home run.  

Cole Harris started as pitcher and pitched two innings, striking out four. Owen Nesbitt stepped in to pitch for a short stint, followed by Gavin Hubbard. Gavin pitched four innings, striking out five.  

Game Two – Win 9-1  

In game two, the Cougars collected 10 hits as well. Chance Greene went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. Ethan ChiodiniLandon Young, and Brenan Goering each drove in two runs. The Cougars ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. The Cougars turned three double plays in the game. Brenan Goering and Landon Young each hit a home run.  

Zaiden Wood led as pitcher, pitching the first five innings. He allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out none and walking three. Ajani Henke pitched two innings in relief. The reliever surrendered two hits, striking out two and walking none. 

Game Three – Loss 18-5 

Ayden Katzenberg collected two hits in two at bats. Brenan Goering had three hits in four at bats, including one home run in the fifth inning. Jonathon Frey had two hits in his four at bats.  

Daniel Darin stepped on the bump first. The pitcher surrendered two hits and two runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking five. Tanner Sullivan, Ethan Gladstein, and Braeden Hays pitched relief.  

Game Four – Win 14-12  

SCC piled up 16 hits in the game. Brenan Goering provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led with three runs batted in, going 3-for-4 on the day. Landon Young and Brenan Goering each collected three hits, each having a home run. Ethan ChiodiniJaiden Glency, and Jackson Koch each collected multiple hits. 

Jacksen Tankersley started on the hill. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and nine runs (eight earned) over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking two. Connor Henke pitched seven and two-thirds innings in relief for the Cougars. He gave up eight hits and three runs while striking out eight and walking one.
