SCC Cougars Take Series Win Over Harper College Hawks

The St. Charles Community College Cougars opened their 2026 spring home season at CarShield Field with a four‑game series against the Harper College Hawks, including a doubleheader on both Friday and Sunday. After a weekend filled with close matchups, the Cougars emerged with a 3–1 series victory.

Game 1

Harper struck early, scoring two runs in the first inning to set the tone. The Cougars responded by scoring a run in four straight innings to stay within reach, including solo home runs in innings four and five by Jonathon Frey and Kurt Leiber, respectively. Despite the push, the Hawks held on to take the opener 6–4.

Game 2

The second game of the day was toe-to-toe. SCC maintained a lead through the fourth inning before Harper erupted with seven runs in the fifth, taking the lead. But the Cougars answered with three runs of their own in the bottom half, followed by three runs in the seventh to tie things up. The game proceeded to an eighth inning where the Cougars clinched one run to close out with a 9-8 win.

Game 3

Sunday's opener delivered the most dramatic finish of the weekend. The game went into extra innings after SCC tied the game 4-4 with 2 runs in the seventh. The teams battled it out all the way into eleven innings when, with Goering on base, Ethan Chiodini delivered a single to secure the Cougars' win 5-4.

Game 4

The finale mirrored the intensity of the previous games. Both teams traded leads early, but SCC's offense surged, scoring at least one run in every inning. The Cougars closed out the series with a 12–9 victory.
