SCC Softball welcomed the Three Rivers Raiders at home on Tuesday, April 8th, for a doubleheader. The Cougars came prepared for a contest, as the Raiders were 9-1 in conference games prior to this matchup. However, the Lady Cougs proved their strength in two good games.
The Cougars had to fight to come back from a large lead set by the Raiders in game one. SCC trailed by five runs in the top of the third but fought to tie it up by the bottom of the seventh. The tie came partly in thanks to a home run by Lorelei Johnson that scored three runs and a solo home run by Yasmin Sandoval. The game went into an extra inning, where the Lady Raiders scored one run on a sacrifice fly to win the game 10-9.
In game two, the two teams were tied once again in the fourth, 3-3. After two run less innings, the Cougars managed a walk-off win, on a double by Maddy Seifert, allowing Addy Thornton to score.
Maddy Seifert led in hits for the day with five. Ella Lause, Lorelei, Maddy, and Yasmin all contributed three RBIs. Next up, the Cougars will have another home game as they face MSU-West Plains on Thursday, April 9th.
