SCC Softball remains undefeated after facing Frontier Community College on Wednesday, February 25th, for a doubleheader matchup. The Lady SCCougs are now 4-0 for the season.
Game 1
The Cougars defeated the Frontier Bobcats 12-3 in game one of the doubleheader in Fairfield, IL.
SCC Cougars started the lead at the top of the second inning after Nevaeh Carter doubled, scoring two runs, and Addy Thornton singled, scoring one run.
SCC Cougars added one run in the third. Chloe Turnbull walked, making the score 4-1.
SCC Cougars scored five runs on five hits in the top of the fourth inning. Maddy Seifert doubled, scoring one run, Alayna Johnson doubled, scoring two runs, Chloe Staffen hit, getting out but one run scored, and Turnbull singled, scoring one run.
Maci Knowles pitched five innings for the SCC Cougars in game one. The starter surrendered four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking two. Yasmin Sandoval closed out in the last inning, throwing 10 pitches.
SCC Cougars tallied 13 hits in the game.
Game 2
The SCC Cougars defeated Frontier Bobcats once again, 13-6, in game two.
SCC Cougars won thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning. Isbell Priddy singled, scoring two runs, Hayli Venable singled, scoring one run, Emily Parsons singled, scoring one run, Addy Thornton hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Yasmin Sandoval homered to right field, scoring three runs.
SCC Cougars added two runs in the third after Hannah Cantrell singled.
Ayla Smith pitched all seven innings for the SCC Cougars in game two. Smith allowed 12 hits and six runs (five earned), striking out seven and walking two.
SCC Cougars amassed 15 hits in the game.
The women will head to Shawnee, Oklahoma, for the weekend to play at the Firelake JUCO Invitational.
