Softball traveled to Poplar Bluff, MO, to face the Three River Raiders for the second time this season. In the first meet up, the Cougars split the doubleheader, losing the first game in an extra inning and winning the second game. This time around, the women fought hard but lost both games.
Game One – Loss 2-1
Game one was a low scoring game for both teams. A walk by Zoey Robinson put the Cougars on the board first at the top of the second. The next run came in the fifth inning, by the Raiders, tying up the game. The game remained tied at one until the bottom of the seventh when the Raiders hit a double, scoring one run for a walk-off win.
Nevaeh Carter, Lorelei Johnson, and Alayna Johson all had one hit in game one.
Game Two – Loss 9-5
In game two, it appeared that the game was going to be another close and low scoring game until the sixth inning. After the Cougars scored a run in the top of the sixth, the score was 3-2, with us down by one. The Three Rivers Raiders came out and scored six runs to pull further ahead. A home run by Maddy Seifert in the seventh inning, scoring three runs, narrowed the lead, but unfortunately, the ladies couldn't catch back up.
Nevaeh Carter, Hannah Cantrell, and Maddy Seifert all had two hits in game two.
The women will play at home this Saturday, April 25th, as they face North Central Missouri College for another region game.
